Neil Young singing Needle and the Damage Done

One of my favourite writers and performers the great Neil Young with one of his early songs.  He had suffered the loss of Danny Whitten,  a member of his original band Crazy Horse  from heroin and it inspired this song.  Unfortunately too many great singers, writers, artists etc succumb to the lure of drugs and have their lives and careers cruelly cut short.  You don’t have to be famous or talented to be seduced by it though – it is a cruel mistress and has left a tsunami of sorrow all over the world with many families mourning the loss of loved ones.    This is a powerful song, made more powerful by being performed solo with only a guitar and voice.  It was performed on the Johnny Cash Show.
