About Me

My name is Kate,  and I am retired from the workforce and live in Sydney, Australia.

My interests are bushwalking, nature, animals, good food, music, movies, photography, exercising outdoors, Tai Chi, movies, books, reading and writing poetry,  auctions, garage sales and op-shopping and my friends and family.  I am passionate about the environment and would like to see it preserved as much as possible for future generations to enjoy.  I enjoy photographing things that move and inspire me such as old trees, animals and places I love and trying out new recipes that are not too challenging.

Now that my children have found partners and have flown the coop my partner Rod and I live alone except for our large furry cat Gilbert.  He may feature occasionally in my blog.

The main reason for starting this blog is to pass on some of the tips on saving money I have accumulated over many years.  As the cost of living spirals, the challenge of saving money or joy in becoming one of the new Frugals becomes even more important.  I love the natural high that comes with getting a great bargain, especially if it is environmentally friendly or benefits others.

There is always a good reason for saving money no matter what life state you are at.  The money saved can be put towards such things as a holiday, paying off the mortgage, buying something you really want but didn’t think you could afford etc.

I hope that some of my posts will inspire you to new ways of saving and show you that penny pinching can be fun and rewarding at the same time.  To counteract the serious topic of money, I will be posting on some lighter topics as well, as I firmly believe that laughter is the best medicine.

    1. Thanks so much. I don’t know how to pick it up unfortunately. Do I have to write a post nominating 7 others for an award? I was nominated once before and did that.

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my post on Pumpkin Hummus. It is a fabulous recipe! For those of us trying to cut calories and eat healthy it’s a great option for eating raw veggies without ranch dip or other unhealthy or high calorie options. I don’t personally care for raw veggies unless they are in salad or with a dip like this. I also posted a hummus recipe from whole foods market that turned out really well. If you like hummus you may want to check it out too.

  2. I’ve been viewing your blog for about twenty minutes and I have already had a wonderful experience. I have seen that you are for the protection of the environment. I bring this up for two reasons. Firstly, I agree massively that the environment needs to be protected. Secondly, I thought you might be interested in my sustainability blog, it’s not my main blog, but I still love it just as much as the photography one. Anyway, thank you for creating your blog, it is very interesting and I am looking forward to more in the future. 🙂

    1. Thank you for your kind comments. Yes, I am passionate about the environment . I have looked at your photography blog and find it very interesting and varied. What is the name of your sustainability blog?
